Isn't the meaning of Christmas to celebrate Jesus's birthday? If so why do we get the presents?

Yes it is. Growing up Catholic though I used to hear a whole bunch of legends.
Supposedly a long long time ago in a place on earth a man by the name of Nicolas decided to give children small gifts to celebrate the birthday of Christ. Since then I think that idea has managed to expand and we have what we know as Christmas today.

Isn't the meaning of Christmas to celebrate Jesus's birthday? If so why do we get the presents? To spread love to eachother. (What my priest says) Jesus would've wanted it that way, for us to all be happy for a day or two. P.S. 360 RULES! mikeyman

Exactly, I am catholic, I believe in god and I believe in Jesus and Mary, but I don't go to church does that make me less Catholic? No because it is our decision, bak in the 1700's you had to go to church and pay commision to the church but these days we have a choice of our own.
Oh and Callum have you fixed your avatar yet?
